As the sun was setting, I watched as my Dad put away our sheep into the next field.
The field that they were in began to go dry and short, so he led them to the next field where there was better grass for the sheep to eat.
The Holy Spirit reminded me of when the Lord said that He was the good Shepard.
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)
I watched and saw one sheep run away and with it gathering other sheep in the next field to run with it in the sheep’s direction. I ran after it and put it back to where it belonged, my Dad and I knew what was best for the sheep, even though they tried to run away.
We try to understand everything, in order to get the full picture. We have to accept that we will never know it all. We try to take control of our lives, thinking we know whats best for ourselves. But our purpose here on earth was not to fulfil our own will, but Gods.
“And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3)
We must be as children are. Totally depended on our Heavenly Father to be there to guide our footsteps.
All we have to do is trust Jesus and know that He is the good Shepard.
He knows what is best for us, even when storms come our way. He will be there for us, to protect us and direct our path.
“In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. ” (Proverbs 3:6)
I trust in you Lord.
For you are the good Shepard.
